Haley Jade

This is my closest friend, Haley.  She was so patient on our way out here.  Haley would lay on a little doggie bed between the two bucket seats of the moving van....and she stayed there patiently for five days!  I couldn't have been blessed with a more compassionate dog with such character.  Now, don't get me wrong.  Haley plays a lot of mind games with me.

Soon after arriving in Oregon, I realized that Haley was having trouble adjusting to the new apartment. I could not leave her out to roam the homestead while I was at work any more.  I usually came home to an eaten book or two and little doggie droppings all over my oriental carpet.  She loves to poo on that carpet and I can't figure out why!  She usually found a way to eat something that was special to me, like my only college graduation announcement.  I began to block her into an area so that she had more room than her cage provided to play while I was gone.  The games began...I would come home to a quiet dog waiting for me in her cage...awwww so sweet.  I would tell her how good she was then turn around to see that the apartment was turned upside down!  She thought she could trick me into thinking that she had been in her cage allllll day. That mess?  Well it certainly was not Haley, how could it have been?

I still love her, how couldn't I?

This is a band that I recently discovered and enjoy following their escapades around the country. The music is awesome and thier hearts seem so dedicated to God. Maybe some day I will have the pleasure of meeting them, seeing how they are from southern Oregon and at least one member goes to my church.

This band I discovered while I was in college in Athens Ohio. I saw them play at a small basement bar called "The Dug Out" and was immediately enchanted with the music and lyrics. On their web page they talk about what they remember about growing up in Ohio. Funny thing is, I know the towns that they reference and the feelings of home return.

"As children, both Karin and Linford could see Big Muskie, the world's largest earthmover, working at night, pulling the hills of Ohio apart for coal. Big Muskie was over six-stories tall and a single bite of its bucket could move 325 tons of earth."

My father was and still is a coal miner in Ohio. I remember seeing this and the Gem of Egypt, which is another large earth mover in the area growing up.
